Most people are prepared for some disruption when they move in. However, ripping out windows and doors is probably more than they’re prepared for. That means either negotiating with the mortgage company for extra funds to cover renovation, or having enough spare cash to pay for it up front. Either way, it’s a major hassle. Don’t let your prospective buyers start thinking about everything they’re going to have to tackle to get the house up to the standard they want. Take care of all the repairs yourself, and focus on showing them the good points instead of minimizing the problems.
